Translation: Anas Al-Sharif, your true identity has been exposed. The Hamas and Jihad (PIJ?) documents uncovered in Gaza and that we publish today leave no room for doubt: Anas Al-Sharif, a active member in Hamas's military wing

You may try to present yourself as a journalist who feels the pain of Gaza's people, but now everyone will know that you are a Hamas member by affiliation and occupation.

Now, everyone knows you joined Hamas's east Jabalia battalion in 2013, and that you were injured in one of its exercises in 2017, and that you were the elader of a cell specialized in rocket launches. We also know you were a combatant, although not sure if a good one, among Hamas's Bukhba ('elite') units.

No matter how many statements Al Jazeera will publish to support you, now everyone will know that you, who were supposed to be an honest journalist from Gaza, are exposed as a member of one of the most terrorizing, criminal and abusive movement to the people of Gaza.

It's not a surprise that you work for a media outlet the hides and covers Hamas's crimes and its use of people, and lies to the world and the people of the Strip.

Shameful and disgraceful.

Event Notes

Assassination of Al-Jazeera crew at Al-Shifa hospital

Around 11:20 pm, an Israeli airstrike targeted the tent of Al-Jazeera's staff at Al-Shifa Medical Complex, killing 6 journalists including renowned Al-Jazeera correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qriqea.

The massacre also injured journalists Ahmad Al-Harazin, Mohammad Sobh, and Mohammad Qayta.

The IDF assassinated them after a long campaign of incitement— and murder— against Palestinians journalists, particularly Anas whom it accused repeatedly and without evidence of being an agent of Hamas.

The assassination came on the anniversary of one of Israel's most gruesome massacres at Al-Tabi'in school where Anas had documented some of his most poignant reporting. Shortly after the latter, the IDF's arabic spokesperson Avichay Adraee incited against Anas, and continued to do so several times throughout the next 12 months. The IDF put Anas on a kill-list of journalists and continued inciting against Anas after his reporting on the devastating effects of Israel's starvation policy starting late July.

Former US army EOD export Trevor Ball noted that the damage pattern seen in the aftermath is "consistent with an Israeli Mikholit bomb. They've (IDF) also used the Mikholit is similar strikes on media tents in the past."

Names of the martyrs:

  1. Anas Al-Sharif "Abu Salah" (correspondent for Al Jazeera)
  2. Mohammed Qriqea "Abu Zain" (correspondent for Al Jazeera)
  3. Ibrahim Daher "Abu Karim" (Al Jazeera cameraman and volunteer paramedic)
  4. Mohammad Nofal "Abu Yahya" (Al Jazeera crew assistant photojournalist)
  5. Momen Aliwa (cameraman)
  6. Muhammad Al-Khalidi (freelance journalist)
