"لحظة إعدام الشهيد الأردني ماهر الجازي برصاصة في الرأس رغم إصابته وعدم قدرته على الحركة. الجيش الإسرائيلي كان قادراً على نقله للعلاج أو اعتقاله مصاباً، لكن الجنود قرروا إعدامه." - Source
*"The moment of execution of the Jordanian martyr Maher Al-Jazi with a bullet to the head, despite being injured and unable to move.
The Israeli army could have taken him for treatment or arrested him while he was injured, but the soldiers decided to execute him."*
Maher Dyab Hussein al‑Jazi was a 39‑year‑old Jordanian man from the Husseiniya area in southern Jordan. He worked as a truck driver and was formerly a soldier in the Jordanian armed forces before retiring.
On 8 September 2024, Maher Al‑Jazi drove his truck to the Allenby Bridge / King Hussein Bridge border crossing — the freight crossing between Jordan and the Israeli‑controlled West Bank. As he stopped in the cargo inspection area, he exited his truck and opened fire at Israeli border personnel, killing three Israeli civilian border workers/security guards. Soon after, Israeli security forces shot and killed him at the scene.
Aftermath and Reactions:
Israel classified the incident as a terrorist attack and temporarily closed the border crossings.
Jordanian authorities identified him officially as a Jordanian national and coordinated the return of his body to his family for burial.
In Jordan and parts of the Arab world, some people honored him at his funeral and on social media, reflecting anger over violence in Gaza and broader conflicts.
Borader Context:
This shooting was one of the rare deadly attacks on the Jordan‑Israel border in decades and occurred against the backdrop of heightened tensions linked to the wider Israel‑Gaza war and conflict in the region.
