Israeli forces caused the avoidable death of four-month-old Palestinian baby Ahmed Ma’rouf Ahmed Zaid from the village of Deir Ammar, northwest of Ramallah, after preventing him from being transported through a checkpoint gate to a waiting ambulance.

In this video, Israeli soldiers are seen guarding the checkpoint as Ahmed’s family desperately tries to get him to the nearest hospital. The ambulance is visible on the other side of the gate, unable to reach him.

Israel established this checkpoint five months ago.

Event Notes

Murder of baby Ahmad Marouf Zeid, 4 months-old, by intentional denial of medical care

On July 5, 2026, a four-month-old Palestinian infant died on Sunday evening after being delayed at an Israeli military checkpoint at the entrance to Deir Ammar village, west of Ramallah. The infant was on his way to receive treatment when the occupation forces prevented his family from passing through the military checkpoint set up at the entrance to the village for more than an hour, ignoring his critical condition while firing tear gas canisters at residents and vehicles. The four-month-old infant was denied the right to timely access to treatment.

The Arab Specialized Hospital confirmed the death of Ahmad Marouf Zeid after Israeli forces allegedly prevented his passage despite his critical condition and need for urgent medical transfer.

Ahmad was the family’s only son, born after years of waiting.

This is as part of a broader pattern involving checkpoints, gates, and closures that, in her view, restrict civilian movement and impede access to medical services, including ambulances and patients.

Name of the infant martyr:

Ahmed Marouf Zaid
