"Under the watch of the IOF, herds of settlers attacked Silwad town, setting cars on fire and wreaking havoc in the peaceful community. The town's civil defense and locals worked to contain the flames and salvage whatever they could. During the operation, Khamis Ayyad, a U.S. citizen, died from inhaling large amounts of smoke. The U.S. Department did nothing to hold those responsible for his death accountable. Khamis is one of many U.S. citizens killed by the IOF and settlers in Palestine. Deadly arson in Silwad after a settler attackOn July 31, 2025: early morning, settler raided the town of Silwad,near Ramallah and ignited fires in Silwad, targeting homes and vehicles. The local witnesses testified that Israeli forces were present and backed the pogrom.
During the incident, Khamis Ayyad, a 40y/o an US-Palestinian citizen, attempts to extinguish fires; he collapses from smoke inhalation and dies.
A relative of Ayyad’s, and a resident of Silwad, said they woke up at 2am (23:00 GMT) to see “flames devouring vehicles across the neighbourhood (...) The townspeople panicked and rushed to extinguish the fires engulfing the cars and buildings,” . Ayyad had been trying to put out a fire burning his brother’s car.
The settlers also attacked the nearby villages of Khirbet Abu Falah and Rammun, setting fire to more vehicles.
According to the Israeli journalist backed by the IDF, Emmanuel Fabian:
Israeli forces arrive but suspects have fled; investigations are launched.
"During scans in Silwad, the IDF reported that Palestinians hurled stones at the troops, who responded with riot dispersal means. Police launched an investigation into the arson and vandalism."
"Footage from the town showed several homes and cars on fire. On one wall, Hebrew graffiti reading “Revenge [for] the shooting of Zio-Nazis” was seen alongside a Star of David."
