"“Tawlet Zaher” is what we call Backgammon in Palestine, and the word Tawle also translates to table! Tawle is commonly played in different parts of Palestine. Our team found this group of men joyfully playing the game in the Wafa’a camp in Deir El Balah, with focus but also teasing and laughter from the group. Collective games and gatherings are common in Palestinian culture, especially elderly men who get together in cafes to play cards or games and drink tea. May God give us the luxury of peace of mind to enjoy collective customs in a liberated Palestine.
